SJFL CHARITY CUP FESTIVAL of FINALS 2024 and Sponsoring Local Charities

The 2023-24 season of the Shropshire Junior Football League was once again marked by the incredible generosity and support shown for various local charities through the Charity Cup Finals. We are proud to have hosted several events in partnership with Market Drayton Town FC and Shrewsbury Sports Village, raising substantial funds for some truly deserving causes. Here’s a look back at the charity cheque presentations from this season.

U15 & U16 Charity Cup Final – £727 Raised for Luna’s Legacy

The first of this season’s charity finals took place on 21st April 2024 at Market Drayton Town FC, where the U15 and U16 teams competed fiercely on the pitch. The event raised a fantastic £727, which was presented to Luna’s Legacy, a charity dedicated to supporting families who have experienced the loss of a baby.

The cheque presentation was made by Jan Butler, Secretary of SJFL, and Mike Hames, Chairman of SJFL, alongside Victoria Vespa of Luna’s Legacy.

U13 & U14 Charity Cup Final – £721 Raised for Life Shed

A week later, on 28th April 2024, the U13 and U14 teams took to the field at Market Drayton Town FC, competing in the Charity Cup Final, which raised £721 for Life Shed. This charity provides support to those who have experienced loss or trauma, offering a safe and supportive space for people to talk and heal.

The cheque presentation was made by Jan Butler and Mike Hames, alongside Hannah Farr and Craig Farr from Life Shed. Special thanks to the two little helpers from Life Shed who added a touch of extra joy to the presentation!

U10, U11, U12 & U14 Charity Cup Finals – £1,857 Raised for Lottie’s Way

The final charity event of the season was hosted at Shrewsbury Sports Village on 12th May 2024, featuring U10, U11, U12, and U14 teams. This event raised an astonishing £1,857 for Lottie’s Way, a charity dedicated to supporting children and families in Shropshire facing the challenges of life-limiting illnesses.

The cheque presentation was made by Jan Butler and Mike Hames, alongside Daisy, Becky Reid, and Mark and Erin from Lottie’s Way. The total raised for Lottie’s Way this season was a staggering £3,305, demonstrating the strong support for this vital cause.
