SJFL CHARITY CUP FESTIVAL of FINALS 2023 and Sponsoring Local Charities

The 2022-23 season of the Shropshire Junior Football League was once again marked by the incredible generosity and support shown for various local charities through the Charity Cup Finals. We are proud to have hosted several events in partnership with Market Drayton Town FC, Ludlow Stadium and Shrewsbury Sports Village, raising substantial funds for some truly deserving causes. Here’s a look back at the charity cheque presentations from this season.


SJFL Bill Healey Memorial 15 Charity Cup Final, U16 Charity Cup Final and U16 Consolation Cup Final – £908 raised for Garden For Alice

On 23rd April, Market Drayton Town FC Hosted the SJFL Bill Healey Memorial U15 Charity Cup Final, the U16 Charity Cup Final and the U16 Consolation Charity Cup Final. The league’s sponsored charity for the festival was the Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital Oswestry and their Garden For Alice – fundraising for a special paediatric garden. SJFL pledged £500 from the league’s charity fund and a further £408 was raised through gate receipts with a total of £908 being presented to Victoria Sugden RJAH Charity Director.

The cheque presentation was made by Mike Hames Chairman SJFL and Becky Reid, Assistant Secretary SJFL, with Victoria Sugden Charity Director RJAH Orthopaedic Hospital.

U13 & U14 Charity Cup and Consolation Charity Cup Finals and U15 Consolation Charity Cup Final – £965 raised for Childrens T1 Diabetes Family Group – Shrewsbury Kids Group

On 7th May, STFC Foundation – Ludlow Stadium hosted the SJFL U13s and U14s Charity and Consolation Charity Cup Finals and the U15 Consolation Charity Cup Final. The league’s sponsored charity for the festival was Childrens T1 Diabetes Family Group – Shrewsbury Kids Group (Shrewsbury and surrounding areas). SJFL pledged £500 from the league’s charity fund and with a further £465 raised through gate receipts making a total of £965 being presented to Roberta Hill from Childrens T1 Diabetes Family Group Charity.

U13, U14, U15 & U16 League Cup Finals – £984 raised for The Wingate Centre

The League Cup Finals were hosted at Market Drayton Town on 14th May 2024, featuring U13, U14, U15, and U16 teams. SJFL pledged £500 from the league’s charity fund and with a further £484 raised through gate receipts making a total of £984 for The Wingate Centre, a centre of excellence for inclusive residential, sport and recreational facilities that allow those with SEND to be active, improve their health.
