This guide provides extracts from the Laws of mini-soccer for Under 7 – Under 10 versions of the game, with children playing a maximum of 7v7 (see Rule8 (C).

From season 2014/15 Under 7 – U10s are not permitted to play in leagues where results are collected or published or winner trophies are presented. This is deemed to be detrimental to the development of the player and the game and will not be sanctioned. Under 7-10s can play in a maximum of three trophy events during the season, lasting a maximum of four weeks each. These are short-term experiences helping children learn about winning and losing in an appropriate environment. The winners of these events can be published and trophies can be presented.

Penalty Area Length : 9.15 metres (10 yards) Width : 16.46 metres (18 yards)

Penalty Mark The penalty mark is 7.32 metres (8 yards) from the goalline opposite the centre of the goal.

Goal Size The distance between the goals is 3.6 metres(12 feet) and the distance between the lower edge of the crossbar and the ground is 1.88 metres (6 feet).

Corner Flag post Corner flag posts are compulsory. Flag posts must not be less than 1.5 metres (5feet) high with a non-pointed top.

Playing Equipment Players must wear shinguards at all times which must be covered entirely by the stockings and goalkeepers must wear a distinguishing playing strip.

Duration of play (see Rule 10 B ).

Ball Size (see Rule 10 B ).

Start of Play Opponents must be 4.5 metres (5 yards) away from the ball.

Offside There are no offside.

Freekicks In Mini Soccer all freekicks are direct . Opponents must be 4.5 metres (5 yards)from the ball.

Penalty kicks All players except the defending goalkeeper and the kicker must be outside the penalty area and at least 4.5 metres (5 yards) from the penalty mark.

Goal kicks A player of the defending team kicks the ball from any point within the penalty area. Opponents must retreat to their own half until the ball is in play. The defending team does not have to wait for the opposition to retreat and has the option to restart the game before should they choose to. The ball is in play whenit is kicked directly out of the penalty area.

Throw In A goal cannot be scored direct from a throw-in. The throw-in is the normal overhead throw.

Substitutions Roll on, roll off substitution is allowed when the ball is out of play and with the agreement of the referee.
